One of the most recognisable hotel chains worldwide is officially 100 years old this week. To mark the celebrations, each and every Hilton hotel is holding a party for guests and invited members of the community. We had an opportunity to head to Hilton, Nottingham on Milton Street to enjoy the festivities.
With four stars to its name, the Nottingham Hilton is a stylish and smart hotel perched on the outer edge of the Intu Victoria Centre. An ideal location right in the city centre for anyone visiting the city to get the very best out of it.
The celebrations were to be held in The Bric restaurant. A smart dining room with comfortable seating, a well stocked bar and a microphone set up for a singer to provide the entertainment. The events team that were hosting the event were both friendly and polite with a real excitement for the event.
One of the most famous drinks anywhere in the world was actually created at a Hilton hotel in Puerto Rico. The Pina Colada. A blend of Malibu, coconut cream and pineapple juice served with a wedge of pineapple. The cocktail wasn’t as sweet as I had remembered previous ones to be but still very good.
A range of different dishes were brought out from the kitchen to form the buffet. Everything was hot, fresh and well presented. The pulled pork sliders, fish and chip cones and crispy prawns with sweet chilli sauce all stood out. As did the red velvet prawns. Everyone had a great meal.
Cakes were also brought out on a beautiful tiered stand. In the style of afternoon tea. In fact, the Hilton have launched a new Bottomless Brunch featuring unlimited prosecco and two courses for just £25. Incredible value.
The cakes were delicious and many took the opportunity to photograph the food. Bloggers do tend to give themselves away by angling for that perfect shot. It was really nice to meet some fellow East Midlands-based bloggers on the night.
David, the general manager of the hotel, came to speak to us. We learned a great deal about how the hotel chain had began in Texas with just one property and now has expanded to over 5,500 worldwide hotels. Quite a story!
With everyone in good spirits, the evening went without a hitch. It was the perfect way to celebrate 100 years of this top hotel chain. The food and drinks were a hit and the company also pleasant throughout the evening. Happy birthday Hilton.
